Yes — the herbal peel is safe and suitable for most skin types. Because it comes in one universal strength, your skin will be assessed during your consultation to ensure it’s the right fit for you. Certain sensitive or compromised skin conditions may require prepping the skin first or postponing the treatment.
You may not be suitable for the herbal peel if any of the following apply:
Skin-related contraindications
• Active acne breakouts with open lesions
• Active cold sores (herpes simplex)
• Open wounds, cuts, or infections
• Recent sunburn
• History of keloid scarring
• Severe rosacea flare-ups or extremely reactive skin
Medical & health-related contraindications
• Autoimmune disorders affecting the skin, such as lupus (must be cleared by a doctor)
• Active cancer or undergoing chemotherapy/radiation
• Uncontrolled diabetes (due to impaired healing)
• Currently experiencing any illness, fever, or infection
Medication-related contraindications
• Use of Accutane (isotretinoin) within the last 6–12 months
• Current use of retinoids, strong exfoliants, or topical steroids (must stop before treatment)
• Recent antibiotics that cause photosensitivity
Recent procedures
• Chemical peels, microneedling, laser, or waxing within the last 1–2 weeks
• Cosmetic injections (Botox/filler) within the last 7 days in the treated area
Pregnancy & breastfeeding
• Not recommended during pregnancy (depending on peel brand)
• Safe during breastfeeding varies — consult with your practitioner first
Other
• Recent tanning or sunbed use
• Inability to follow aftercare (e.g., no picking, no heat, SPF use)
Proper aftercare is essential for a smooth healing process and the best results. Please follow all instructions carefully:
Activity Restrictions
• No sauna, gym, sweating, hot yoga, steam rooms, or hot baths for 7 days.
• Avoid makeup for 7 days or until the peeling stage is fully complete.
• Avoid direct sun exposure and heat.
• Do not pick, scratch, or pull at any peeling skin.
Washing & Showering Instructions
You have two aftercare options depending on your lifestyle and preference:
Option 1: Keep the treated area completely dry for 7 days
• Do not wash the treated area.
• Avoid getting water, sweat, or steam on the area.
• You may shower carefully while keeping the treated area dry.
• Use only:
• Your aftercare toner
• SPF daily
• No additional skincare, cleansers, or exfoliants.
This option is ideal for clients who prefer a minimal routine during downtime.
Option 2: Wash the area using our Downtime Body Wash
If you prefer to wash the treated area during the peeling period:
• You may gently wash the area only with our Downtime Body Wash, available online or in-clinic.
• This product is specifically formulated to be safe during the 7-day downtime.
• Do not use any other soaps, cleansers, scrubs, exfoliants, or active products during this period.
• Continue to apply your aftercare toner and SPF daily as directed.
You will need the following recommended aftercare products:
• Downtime Body Wash (if you choose to wash the treated area during the 7-day downtime)
• An alcohol-free toner such as Simple or plain rose water
• SPF 50 sunscreen to protect the skin daily
• An oral antihistamine tablet (for example, cetirizine or loratadine) if you experience itching.
These products support healing, prevent irritation, and help protect the skin while it regenerates after the peel.
Please prepare your skin by following these guidelines:
• Avoid exfoliating products for 2 weeks
• Avoid retinols and retinoids for 2 weeks
• Avoid sun exposure and tanning
• Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the treated area
• Inform your therapist of any recent procedures, medications, or skin changes
This varies depending on the client’s skin type, specific skin concerns, and desired outcomes. However, typically, clients undergo between 3-6 sessions.

As the peel targets deep layers of the skin, it is normal to experience stinging or discomfort for the first few days, typically 3-5 days.
